Steve has become the proud owner of an historic racing Alpine #74 that appeared in Alpine advertisements. This car is the Series 4 ALPINE that won F-Production in '64. Believe it or not because they had factory sponsorship so they had all sorts of nice parts like the Silverstone wheels.
The ad was run in Sports Car Graphic in Feb. 65. Also, Champion featured the car in their annual Congratulations ad for those who used Champion Plugs (found in R+T and SCG, C and D).
They won F-Production in 64 (known win at Mid-Ohio and others) and in 65' Dan Carmichael won a Division Title (with wins at VIR and others)
When Steve talked to Don Sesslar and Dan Carmichael. he could tell they feel a great fondness for this car. Steve is very interested in finding a good set of those Silverstones, if anyone knows a source.
Steve has acquired this car, and is restoring it to it’s race-ad condition. Currently he is searching for a prime set of the American Racing “Silverstone” wheels that originally graced the competition car.
Here is an historic picture of the car, probably on a “Victory Lap”, as we are sure that the owner would not be disregarding the law with 5 passengers. {9->
